Whispers of old

Whispers of old

When you see antique and vintage pieces, do they whisper to you? Do you hear the stories they tell?

If you haven’t listened, I urge you to try it. Each piece tells a story. You can hold something vintage or old in your hands and it will speak to you. The notches on the corner of a book? They speak of years of loving use.

The faded colors of a painting? They tell the story of being hung on a family’s walls as they went about their day.

The ironstone platter you see? It began its life in England in the late 1800’s. Manufactured for someone to use everyday. It was durable and tough unlike the goods we see today.

Somehow it found its way to America. Maybe it was sold here in a general store. Or perhaps it was packed up and brought with a family when they immigrated.

Regardless, it survived for 100’s of years. It graced the tables of multiple generations, passing through hundreds of hands. Its chips and dents are badges of honor, reflecting its age and history. So to hold it in my own hands after passing through so many others makes me smile.

It’s found a place in the history of my home.  It would be an honor to find pieces like this to share with you to fill your home.

Let me know in the comments, what pieces speak to you? Do you love the items that are worn?
