This antique Spode Copeland ironstone relish was part of the "Duncan Series" or rural scenes. The scalloped dish has a brown serene pastoral scene of cows grazing in the pasture. The series of rural scenes on these dishes were inspired by watercolors commissioned by W.T. Copeland in 1849. The artist Edward Duncan painted sepia toned works that captured English country life. Beautiful trinket dish or addition to an ironstone collection!
In fair antique condition with a few small flea bites under the rim. Impressed with Copeland mark. Circa 1850-1880.
Measures 9" x 5"
