Antique English Victorian Potted Beef Ironstone Pot and Lid

This antique English Victorian lidded pot was the fast food of the Victorian and Edwardian times! 

Dating to the late 1800’s, this particular piece was dug up from a trash heap in England. Potted meats were ground meats with herbs and a layer of clarified butter. The meats would be spread on breads for a quick and filling meal. They potted beef, chicken, ham, and fish. Yum 🤣

This piece has been dug up from an English trash heap. It has staining, crazing and chips. Note how there is a flaw in the address. Almost like it was painted after the fact, making this treasure even better!
